Benjamin 2017
2017 has been a solid year for me. Not too much has changed between this year and last but there have definitely been some amazing moments and fun times that I will always remember.
Like last year, I still work at the Leesburg International Airport as an aircraft mechanic. I work at a company called Sunair Aviation which is a flight school / maintenance shop / FBO as well as a fueling service to fuel airplanes that fly in. Since the company is a flight school, I have have been given the opportunity to get my pilot's license at a fraction of the cost. So, I have been excited to be getting my flight time hours in and getting myself closer to getting my private pilot's license. I am also going to sit next year for my A&P license (Airframe and Powerplant) which is the main maintenance certification.
I've taken a few fun trips with friends. My favorite so far has been a trip with my wonderful girlfriend Marissa and her family to her grandma's house in Panama City where we adventured all through the woods as well as went wake boarding and scalloping.
Life is crazy busy for me at the moment. While working full time, buying and selling cars/trucks, spending time with my girlfriend, working towards my pilot's license and everything else, this year went by in a flash! I have a hard time breathing at some points which can be a struggle and is why I value my off time so much. But, I think as I get into 2018, my life will calm down a little. I will be getting I will get a lot more organized so I will feel a lot better over all. I still have a bunch of projects going on, but I'm in the process of closing many of them out so I can simplify my life more as my college work will continue in 2018 with more urgency.
My most recent project is my 2004 Ford F150. I am converting all the body work to make it look like a 2014 truck. I’m half way (sort of) done now. I just have to finish painting the new parts and throw it back together. I've got other projects outstanding - 1975 Scout - 1965 Mustang - 1997 Jeep -- 2001 Ford Diesel F250 -- and a few watercraft and 2-wheel projects... and turning our garage into a really cool work area (I'm excited for that).
Overall 2017 has been a good year. I have learned a lot and lived a lot. I’ve won and I’ve lost, but that’s just what it takes to get stronger. I can’t wait to see what 2018 has to offer!
Wishing you all a fantastic 2018!
