SKIING

Cloudmont Ski and Golf Resort is as unique as Lookout Mountain itself.  Since 1970, advanced snowmaking equipment and patient professional instruction have provided Cloudmont’s ski expansion to include two one-thousand foot, beginner-intermediate slopes.  Two “pony lifts” take skiers to the top of the slopes that have an elevation of 1,800 feet and a vertical rise of 150 feet.

Glittering snow comes to Cloudmont as soon as cold overnight temperatures drop to 28 degrees or colder, which allows snowmaking to commence.  Quality machine-made snow provides a deep base to hold the snow through the warmer days with snow grooming equipment used when necessary.

Cloudmont Ski Resort is open daily during season – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and nightly from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., weather conditions permitting.

The beginner or experienced skier is comfortable at Cloudmont.  Even if you’ve never been on skis, a few hours of expert guidance from our instructors and you’re sailing down the slopes like you have been doing it all of your life.  The American Teaching Method has been used to teach thousands.

Personalized instruction is given to skiers of all ages and abilities in both group and private lessons.  Skis, boots, poles, and snow boards are available for rent in the Ski Lodge.

NATURE TRAILS & SPOTS

Little River: Little River is unique because it flows for most of its length atop Lookout Mountain in northeast Alabama. Forested uplands, waterfalls, canyon rims and bluffs, pools, boulders, and sandstone cliffs offer settings for a variety of recreational activities. Natural resources and cultural heritage come together to tell the story of the Preserve, a special place in the Southern Appalachians. Check out Little River Canyon... it's AMAZING!

DeSoto State Park: Whether a nature hobbyist, outdoor enthusiast, or sporting fanatic - DeSoto State Park has plenty to do to keep you pleasantly entertained. Kayaking, fishing, hiking, biking, cycling, rappeling, bouldering, picniking, wildflower expeditions, and just plain ole' exploring nature - they literally have it all! (Our favorite spot is DeSoto State Falls!)
